Professional Trim, Door & Baseboard Painting Across the GTA

Trim, doors, and baseboards are the finishing touches that elevate a paint job from good to exceptional. They are also the surfaces people touch, scuff, and see up close every day — which is why dull, yellowed, or chipped trim drags down an otherwise beautiful room. NorthHue Coatings brings obsessive attention to these details: knife-sharp cut lines, smooth enamel finishes, and zero brush marks.

The finish quality on trim is what most clearly separates a professional job from a DIY one. We use premium alkyd-hybrid and water-based enamels — Benjamin Moore Advance and Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane — that level out to a glass-smooth finish as they dry, resist scuffs and chips, and hold their colour without yellowing. Applied by hand-brushing or HVLP spray, the result is a furniture-quality finish that looks like it belongs in a magazine.

Proper prep is what makes enamel look smooth rather than lumpy. We clean every surface to remove hand oils and grime; sand to create adhesion; fill nail holes, dents, and grain; caulk gaps between trim and wall for a seamless transition; apply a stain-blocking primer where needed (essential over wood tannins that bleed through ordinary paint); and then apply two coats of enamel, hand-brushed in place or sprayed off-site for doors. Every inch is inspected under good raking light before we pack up.

Trim painting is also one of the highest-impact refreshes for the cost. Painting dated oak or varnished trim a crisp white, or refreshing scuffed baseboards, completely changes how a room reads — often more than repainting the walls themselves. We can also paint interior doors and casings to match, refinish a front door for curb appeal, and spray cabinet doors off-site for a factory finish. Done together, a trim and door refresh makes a whole home feel newly renovated.

We serve homeowners across Toronto, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Milton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Barrie, and the entire GTA. Every trim, door, and baseboard project includes a free written estimate, a clear timeline, and our 2-year workmanship warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you spray doors for a factory finish?+
Yes. We can remove doors and spray them with HVLP equipment in a controlled environment for the smoothest possible, brush-mark-free finish, then rehang and adjust them.
Do you paint baseboards in place or remove them?+
Typically painted in place with careful masking and drop cloths for a clean, sharp line. Removal is available at additional cost when a full refinish of the floor underneath is planned.
What type of paint do you use on trim?+
Premium alkyd-hybrid and water-based enamels — Benjamin Moore Advance and Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane — that dry hard, level smoothly, resist scuffs, and do not yellow.
Can you paint over oak or varnished trim?+
Yes. We clean, sand, fill grain, prime with a stain-blocking primer to stop tannin bleed, and apply enamel for a crisp, modern white that completely transforms dated oak.
How much does trim painting cost in Toronto?+
Pricing depends on linear footage of baseboards, number of doors and casings, and whether doors are sprayed. We provide free written quotes with transparent line-item pricing.
How long does trim painting take?+
A typical room's trim takes a day; a whole-home trim and door project takes 3–6 days depending on scope and whether doors are sprayed off-site.
Why do my painted doors have brush marks?+
Brush marks come from cheap paint, poor prep, or rushing. Premium enamels level as they dry, and spraying eliminates brush marks entirely — that is why we offer HVLP spray for doors.
Do you caulk the gap between trim and wall?+
Yes. Caulking the trim-to-wall gap is standard on every project — it is what makes the transition look seamless and finished rather than rough.
