The process works because of physics: the paint is given an electrical charge and the metal surface is grounded, so charged particles are attracted to the metal and wrap around edges, curves, and hard-to-reach areas for even, complete coverage. The result is a smooth, drip-free finish comparable to powder coating, with transfer efficiency above 95% — meaning almost no wasted paint and virtually no overspray on surrounding surfaces. Proper preparation is what makes an electrostatic finish last rather than chipping off. We degrease every surface to remove oils and handling residue, scuff-sand for adhesion, treat any rust, and apply a bonding primer engineered for metal before the charged enamel goes on. Skipping the prep is why refinished metal peels within a season — the enamel bonds to contamination, not the metal. We ground every conductive surface correctly so the charge wraps evenly, and we mask surrounding areas despite the minimal overspray.
